PROJECT 2023年10月31日(火) Awarded Contract of JICA“The Project for Enhancing Non-Revenue Water Management Capacity in Southern Governorates”

TEC International Co., Ltd. (TECI) was awarded a contract by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a lead company of joint venture (JV) for the project titled “ The Project for Enhancing Non-Revenue Water Management Capacity in Southern Governorates ” in Jordan, in October 2023.

In Ma’an, Karak, and Tafilah (hereinafter, this is called “the three southern governorates”), Jordan, the non-revenue water ratio (the percentage of water that cannot be collected due to leakage from distribution pipes or unpaid water bills) has exceeded 60% and water is provided for only two to three days a week due to water leakage caused by aging, poor maintenance of water supply facilities and a low rate of bill collection from customer dissatisfaction. However, the Aqaba Water Company (AWC), which provides water to the three southern governorates, has limited knowledge and resources. Aa a result, there are a number of obstacles to overcome in order for water utilities in these areas to reduce the non-revenue water ratio and achieve independent operations.

The goal of this project is to provide trainings for AWC staff and water utility staff in the three southern governorates on non-revenue water management measures. Furthermore, we will establish a training scheme which each water utility can implement by themselves after the completion of this project in order that sustainable non-revenue water control measures can be achieved continuously. TECI, in collaboration with NJS Co., Ltdr and PACIFIC CONSULTANTS CO., LTD., will actively contribute to the sustainable management and development of Jordan’s water utilities.
